Electric Boat is a part of General Dynamics’ Marine Systems and is involved in the design, construction and lifecycle support of submarines for the U.S. Navy. Electric Boat helps keep the nation's nuclear submarine fleet maintained and mission-ready by providing maintenance, modernization and life-cycle support activities.
The company performs the bulk of its maintenance and modernization work at its Groton, Connecticut, shipyard and at the Naval Submarine Base - New London, Connecticut. At the submarine bases, Electric Boat is under contract to operate the Nuclear Regional Maintenance Department and the floating dry dock Shipping port. The company also provides supervisory and trade support to the Naval Submarine Support Facility. In addition to these and other specific maintenance activities in Groton, Electric Boat maintains permanent facilities at Kings Bay, Georgia, and Bangor, Washington, to support the routine life-cycle requirements of the Ohio-class submarines based there.
